Your hotel in the heart of Zagreb
In Croatian, it is pronounced; "Muzej prekinutih veza".
Make no mistake, this is a must see attraction in Zagreb.
There is an obvious reason why tourists across the globe want to visit this place.
It is dedicated to broken hearts.
Where is the Museum of Broken Relationships?
The original one is located at the Upper Town in Zagreb, Croatia.
The newly founded one was located in Los Angeles, USA.
It includes items such as old letters, photographs, and even mementos of past relationships.
In 2017, this Museum attracted more than 110,000 people .
This made it the eleventh most popular tourist attraction in Croatia.
In the beginning, the museum was simply a collection of donated items.
Zagreb has now become home to the museum permanently.
The museum won the Kenneth Hudson Award in 2011 for being the most innovative museum in Europe.
The museum was founded by Dražen Grubišic, a sculptor, and Olinka Vištica, a film producer, both from Zagreb.
In 2003, after their four-year love affair had ended, the two joked about setting up a museum to display their left-over personal items.
They asked their friends to donate objects left over from their breakups, that is how the collection was made.
The first time it was shown to the public was in 2006, at Glyptotheque Zagreb, during the 41st Zagreb Salon.
More than 200,000 people saw the collection between 2006 and 2010.
In addition, new items were donated by members of the public along the way.
In Berlin alone, more than 30 items were donated during the exhibition in 2007.
There are several segments to the project.
In which segments?
The material remains include items such as photographs, letters, or messages.
The items are displayed with the dates and locations of their relationships, and annotated by their anonymous donors.
